Excerpts from The Life and Times of William (Billy) Young; Tennessee Frontiersman, Utah Pioneer
“William (Billy) Young was born 28 Aug 1805, near Springfield in Robertson County Tennessee. Both his father and grandfather had migrated to Tennessee from the Southwest Virginia Territory in the late 1700’s. They were descended from early German immigrants to the American Colonies. Billy Young’s father, Jacob Young, was born on the Virginia frontier 8 May 1774, the second child of William & Elizabeth Huff Young. Billy Young’s mother, Mary Boren, was related to Daniel Boone through her mother Susannah Bryan. Susannah Bryan was first cousin to Boone’s wife, Rebecca Bryan. The Bryans and Borens had lived in the same area near the Yadkin River in North Carolina.“
“William (Billy) Young was named after his grandfather, William Young, who was born 15 Apr 1744. He was of German and English Descent, and came to Virginia with the early settlement of that state. He then moved to Jackson Co Tennessee. He was a first-class farmer and owned very extensive tobacco and cotton plantations. The sons in this family were first class mechanics. William married Elizabeth Huff 25 Mar 1770. She was born 27 Oct 1754.”
“Billy Young’s maternal grandparents, Bazel Boren, born 1758 in the Yadkin Valley, North Carolina, & Susannah Bryan Boren, born 1762 in the Yadkin Valley, Rowan Co North Carolina, were married on 7 Oct 1780 “

Biography of Charles Willden, 1806-1883
(pdf, 292 KB)"Charles William Willden was the fourth son of Jeremiah Wildon and Elizabeth (Betty) Revil. He was born 27 July 1806 in Anston, Yorkshire, England. His brothers and sisters of whom we have found record are Sarah, Jeremiah, Ann, Mary, and John. The children were all born in Anston."
"Ann and Mary had died before the Willden’s came to America, and Sarah died soon after. She did not come to America but her two sons, William and John, came in 1855, settling in Scipio, UT. As far as we know all the Memmotts in the LDS Church are descendants of Sarah."
"Charles married Eleanor Turner (Hellenoir Turner), 21 January 1833 in Laughton, Yorkshire, England. Their first two children, Ellott (a surname) and Eleanor were born in Laughton. They then moved to Sheffield Yorkshire, England about 1836 where Charles Turner, John, Feargus O'Connor, Ann, and Mary were born. Tragedy came to their home when two year old Eleanor died. Two children remained, Ellot and Charles, the latter being less than a month old."

"My mother used to say, "Obedience is the first law of heaven, and order is its results." That's how it was, and whenever she said for me to do anything, that's what I done. My father never said much to me. My mother was always in charge. Father never said much of anything. I guess he thought she could always handle the situation. I was the baby boy, and my mother and father taught me to be honest and honorable, but my older sisters said I was spoiled."
"One time we really went out in style. It was in the Salt Lake Theater. I took my girl out one night and I wanted the very best there was. I didn't realize I was out of order, but I wanted to show my girl I was the best there was. So we sat up in the front seats, right close to the stage; the most expensive seats in the house. But anyway, when my father found out I was down there amongst all the fanciest people, I really got in trouble. Ha, ha, ha. Here we were from out in the sticks, ten miles from Salt Lake."
